Sacramento Children's Museum

Sacramento's new Childrens' Museum opened on Thursday, August 25. We took the kids the first Saturday it was open before lunchtime and Jakey had an absolute blast.

The museum has a costume area that I didn't think Jakey would have much interest in, as he's never really enjoyed imaginative play, but he went immediately to the postman outfit and spent ages "delivering" the mail.
The museum also has a residential-type mailbox with a flag, a PO with a drop box, and then the play market and play house areas both have mailboxes.  There are a bunch of laminated pretend letters and actual postcards sent to the Museum before it opened from around the country to "deliver." Jakey took his mailbag, filled it up, and went around delivering mail. It was adorable. Then he went to the market and "bought" groceries, even correctly giving play $1s and $5s when requested by the kid playing cashier. Then he went in the play house and put the groceries away, sat down at the table to eat, played with the felt fireplace, etc.
We had to drag him out of there. So I bought us a membership.  Oh, and Mouse had a good time, too! :)
